Forklift Class 3 (Powered Pallet Truck)
Course Description
This course provides classroom theory and hands-on practical training for powered pallet trucks (Class 3). Training may be completed at our facility or on site at your workplace.
The program covers powered pallet truck regulations, operator responsibilities, equipment fundamentals, inspection requirements, and safe operating principles specific to Class 3 equipment, with practical training and evaluation conducted on powered pallet trucks.
Upon successful completion, participants will be authorized to operate Class 3 powered pallet trucks within British Columbia, in accordance with applicable regulations, industry standards, manufacturer instructions, and employer requirements.
Certification is valid for three years and must be renewed upon expiry or as required by the employer.

Theory
- Regulations, rules, and operator responsibilities
- Powered pallet truck classifications and types
- Main components, controls, and functions
- Capacity ratings and load handling considerations
- Stability principles and operating characteristics
- Safe operating procedures and common hazards
- Pre-use inspection requirements (equipment, worksite, and PPE)
- Theory evaluation
Practical
- Pre-use inspection procedures (equipment, worksite, and operational checks)
- One-on-one hands-on training
- Controlled driving and maneuvering around obstacles
- Lifting and placing empty pallets
- Lifting and placing palletized loads
- Safe parking and shutdown procedures
- Practical evaluation
Completion
- Certificate issued upon successful completion
- Certification valid for three years
- Unlimited post-certification practice time available for Class 3 powered pallet trucks
