Telehandler Forklift Operator Training

Forklift Class 7 (Rough Terrain Telehandler)

Course Description

This course provides classroom theory and hands-on practical training for rough terrain telehandlers (Class 7). Training may be completed at our facility or on site at your workplace.


The program covers telehandler regulations, operator responsibilities, equipment fundamentals, inspection requirements, and safe operating principles specific to rough terrain telehandlers, with practical training and evaluation conducted on Class 7 equipment.


Upon successful completion, participants will be authorized to operate Class 7 rough terrain telehandlers within British Columbia, in accordance with applicable regulations, industry standards, manufacturer instructions, and employer requirements.


Certification is valid for three years and must be renewed upon expiry or as required by the employer.

Course Outline

 

         Theory

  • Regulations, rules, and operator responsibilities
  • Telehandler classifications and types
  • Main components, controls, and functions
  • Load charts, capacity ratings, and attachment considerations
  • Stability principles, center of gravity, and rough terrain factors
  • Safe operating procedures and common hazards
  • Pre-use inspection requirements (equipment, worksite, and PPE)
  • Theory evaluation
     

         Practical

  • Pre-use inspection procedures (equipment, worksite, and operational checks)
  • One-on-one hands-on training
  • Controlled driving and maneuvering around obstacles
  • Lifting, placing, and stacking empty pallets
  • Lifting, placing, and stacking palletized loads
  • Operating on uneven terrain and maintaining stability
  • Safe parking and shutdown procedures
  • Practical evaluation
     

      Completion

  • Certificate issued upon successful completion
  • Certification valid for three years
